One of our members, Vivienne Machell is having her first solo exhibition which starts on Saturday 23rd July. You can see details on the poster to the right of this post and underneath is a sliding display of some of her works. You can also see a few more of her paintings under the ‘Artists’ entry on the top menu.

Below her works are a few words from Vivienne describing her work.

“My work is tonal and realistic and colour is a very important aspect whether it is full on and vibrant or more subtly deployed. Inspiration comes during walks on Royston heath and on holiday, and from old family photographs which are adapted for my portraits. Most of my paintings are acrylic but I also work in oil, watercolour and occasionally pastel.

Trained in Fashion and Textile design, I previously painted on silk and exhibited my silk scarves and ties in local galleries including Wimpole Hall. I now concentrate on painting and am about to have my first solo exhibition at the Royston Museum and Art Gallery this summer. I also exhibit at Curwens Gallery, Royston Art Society, Cambridge District Art Circle and Cambridge Drawing Society.”

There are still a couple of weeks left to visit our Members Exhibition at the Museum and details can be found in the previous post but this message is to advertise entry to the Autumn Exhibition which will be held on the weekend of 23rd to 24th September 2017; to coincide with the Royston Arts Festival.
The theme of the Royston Arts Festival is “Changes” and we will be running a little competition for the best “Changes” painting. The “Changes” paintings will be displayed in a prominent area and there will be a prize for the best “Changes” painting as voted by the visitors to the exhibition.
As usual there are two separate entry forms which can be downloaded by clicking on either the one for MEMBERS or the one for NON-MEMBERS. All the instructions for completing and deadlines for returning both forms can be found within.
The deadline for entering paintings and cards into the Autumn Exhibition is Thursday 31st August 2016.
