RAS Artists Demonstration Programme

Hashim Akib Demonstrating

Royston Arts Society runs a programme of nine artist demonstrations each year. The demos are chosen so that they cover a range of subjects and media. We also try to include one or two that are slightly ‘unusual’ either in the medium used or the approach taken to paint a subject. We try to present a programme that will appeal to a wide variety of artists in subject matter, style and medium used.

RAS recently invested in a projection system which allows us to display a large image of the painting on a screen. This means that all visitors get a good view regardless of where they are sitting or the size of the painting. It also allows us to choose demo artists who prefer to work on a table or who paint on a smaller scale.

We have a break for a cup of tea or coffee half way through. This allows people to talk to the demo artist and to take a more detailed look at the painting.

We hope the demos will provide food for thought for our members and non-members.

The RAS Artists Demonstration programme for 2025

RAS is very grateful for the sponsorship of Johnson Matthey plc who contributed towards the cost of the projection equipment used during the demos.
